Belmond La Residencia is a place that knows luxury—and life—is best served chilled. Clinging to a hillside in the charming village of Deià, the hotel offers unrivaled views over the Tramuntana Mountains and the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Breathe deeply as you wander through a maze of sweet-scented citrus trees, keeping an eye out for olive groves that are older than the hotel’s historic buildings. Our housemade olive oil is served throughout our restaurants and incorporated into treatments in the award-winning spa.

The heart of Belmond La Residencia beats from two manor houses that date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Behind the honey-colored stone walls and pale green shutters, you’ll find original beams are complemented by whitewashed walls. Come summer, the cooling terracotta tiles fend off the heat of the sun.

Should you wish to explore, the hotel is cradled by UNESCO-protected countryside which entices hikers. Guests can also venture out on two wheels with a professional cyclist as a guide. Those in search of something a little more high octane should explore via Vespa—we’ll even pack a picnic for you.

Gastronomy is, after all, our pride and joy. Under the steady hand of Chef Guillermo Mendez, who has been with the hotel for almost three decades, we champion both Mediterranean cuisine and wine from a burgeoning local scene. While the hotel’s fine-dining options include the romantic El Olivo, you can also choose to take it easy over tapas at Café Miró. Named after the celebrated Spanish artist, you’ll find 33 of his works adorning the walls.

Art abounds in every corner here. Beyond our in-house gallery, there are over 750 original works by locals artists displayed across our rooms. Visit the studio of Alan Hydes, our resident painter, for an art class. Or create something three-dimensional with resident sculptor Juan Waelder. Our bi-annual art competition supports emerging artisans from the community. It’s this kind of commitment to our environment that has led locals to call us La Res. We hope you will too.

ACCOMMODATION

JUNIOR SUITE SUPERIOR – These fabulous suites are located in Son Canals, Son Fony, or Son Moragues. Furnished with elegant antique Mallorcan furniture and a king- or queen-size bed, each has its own individual character and some enjoy a private garden, small balcony, or terrace. All feature a living room with a sofa, separated by an arch, and some are split level. Views open out over Deià or the green Tramuntana Mountains. The bathrooms offer a bathtub or separate shower. 

JUNIOR SUITE DELUXE – Located in Son Canals or in the Tramuntana building, these suites offer panoramic vistas over the village of Deià and the dramatic mountains. Each has a traditional Mallorcan tiled terrace with breathtaking views and ample space to relax. There are two sun-loungers and a marble table with chairs to enjoy the balmy weather all day long. All the rooms feature a king-size bed, a separate lounge area with luxurious Mallorcan-style furniture, and a large marble bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub. Two rooms are connecting.

JUNIOR SUITE EXECUTIVE – Set in the Tramuntana building, these are the largest suites in the hotel and feature a king-size bed, separate lounge area with lavish Mallorcan-style furniture and a generous marble bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub. Each suite has its own private plunge pool and a traditional tiled garden terrace with two sun-loungers, a marble table and chairs, and panoramic vistas over the village of Deià and Tramuntana Mountains. No connecting rooms.

SUITE DELUXE – In the Son Fony building, these splendid suites offer a bedroom with a super king bed and a spacious lounge area with several windows offering mountain and village views. All feature a private outdoor terrace area and an expansive bathroom equipped with a bathtub and separate shower. No connecting rooms.

SUITE EXCLUSIVE – Located in the Son Fony and Tramuntana buildings, with the sweeping village and mountain vistas, these suites feature a super king bed and a bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. Leading off from the lounge is an inviting terrace with a private plunge pool and an outdoor seating area, ideal for morning coffee or evening cocktails. Three rooms are connecting.

PRESIDENTIAL SUITE – Offering total privacy and relaxation, the Presidential Suites feature spectacular views over the village and mountains. Both are located at the top of the Son Fony building and offer a sumptuous bedroom with a four-poster super king bed and a bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. They boast a large terrace area with private garden and swimming pool (8m x 4m; 26 x 13ft), space for outdoor dining and a covered pergola with seating. On request, each suite can be connected with a Double Room to create an expansive two-bedroom apartment.

DESIGNER SUITE BY MATTHEW WILLIAMSON – Created by British fashion and interiors designer Matthew Williamson, our stunning suite features vibrant colors, rich botanical imagery, and luxe textures all combined with a rustic decadence. Set in the Son Fony building, the one-bedroom suite offers spectacular views of both the village and mountains. It includes a terrace with a private pool and garden and luxurious living space. Sumptuous bespoke touches throughout include an ostrich feather lamp, vintage dresser, Indian painted cabinet, rolltop bathtub, peacock chair, Matthew Williamson wallpaper and floral armchairs, a covered pergola outside and floodlit olive trees.

VILLA (1) – A short walk from the hotel, this three-story private residence is a deluxe, self-catering retreat, offering glorious views of the mountains and shimmering sea. It offers three bedrooms, two with a queen-size bed and one with twin beds, and two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and a separate shower and the other with shower only. Guests can be independent with their own fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room with open fireplace, barbecue, outdoor terrace, and heated private swimming pool, but are also welcome to use all the hotel facilities, including the pools, restaurants, tennis courts, spa and shuttle service to Cala Deià during summer months. Daily buffet breakfast at the hotel and daily housekeeping are included in the rate. A welcome package is presented on arrival. No connecting rooms.

DINING

EL OLIVO RESTAURANT  – Set in a 17th-century olive mill, our fine-dining restaurant boasts one of the most beautiful settings on the island. Indulge in the mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine of Chef Guillermo Méndez and select sumptuous wines from our award-winning list.

CAFÉ MIRÓ  – Art lovers will be captivated by the unique collection of original Joan Miró paintings in our café, which is open for hot and cold drinks, afternoon tea, cocktails and tasty specialties such as tapas and paella. Enjoy piano music from 19.00 each evening.

POOL RESTAURANT – Take a seat by the pool to savor Mediterranean delicacies, oven-baked pizzas, and crunchy salads. Bar 10.00-19.00.

SON FONY – Enjoy an inviting buffet breakfast overlooking the pool. Sample our own homemade preserves, freshly baked bread, and eggs to order.

EXPERIENCES

SA BASSA BLANCA – In a protected wildlife sanctuary on Mallorca’s north coast, an artistic adventure is calling. Sa Bassa Blanca Museum, the vision of artists Yannick Vu and Ben Jakober, combines intriguing artworks and stunning, Moorish-style architecture with heavenly grounds. Discover this enchantingly different world on a private tour, which includes a visit to several exhibition spaces and the sculpture garden, as well as a stop on a magnificent viewpoint. A picnic lunch in a lovely spot of the Rose Garden also awaits.

MIRÓ O’ CLOCK – Sip exquisite, aromatic tea as you indulge in meltingly moreish homemade pastries, freshly-made scones, and other sweet and savory treats. The delicacies, presented on our beautiful, signature Miró porcelain inspired by the artists’ “sans titer” work, can be served in your chosen spot in the lush gardens or inside our Café Miró. Simply choose from Full Afternoon Tea or Full Afternoon Tea with Champagne. This limited edition porcelain is also available in our signature boutique.

DONKEY TRAIL – Gather all generations and join our loveable resident donkeys Luna and Pancho to take a stroll up the hillside through the hotel’s centuries-old olive groves. Learn about the Tramuntana’s flora and fauna and admire our new Bug Hotel. Enjoy spectacular views and a well-earned delicious spread of local specialties at our ancient stone shepherd’s hut.
