FIND YOUR PERFECT VILLAHotel Cipriani | Venice | City of Venice | Veneto | Italy
Province of Venice
It makes perfect sense that Belmond Hotel Cipriani was dreamed up in the era of such classic, romantic Italian films as Roman Holiday, Three Coins in the Fountain, and Summertime. Opened in 1958, this iconic hotel is now celebrated as a true classic in its own right.
Welcome to a place where such old-fashioned qualities as elegance, courtesy, and charm become more than mere fantasy. As real as the delicious cocktail that George Clooney created here with his friend, our head barman Walter Bolzonella. The pair dubbed it ‘Buona Notte’ after the actor’s film, Good Night And Good Luck.
Set on Giudecca Island, a five-minute ride by private launch from St Mark’s Square, Belmond Hotel Cipriani captures everything La Serenissima is famed for. An oasis of calm in vibrant Venice, this most exclusive property offers privacy and peace to all who stay here. It’s little wonder that its guests include the world’s most photographed film stars such as Mr. Clooney—along with politicians, writers, and designers. What’s important is that each of our guests—famous or not—receives the same personal attention.
Here the very notion of service enters a new dimension. Should you wish to play tennis on our red-clay court, you can up your game by taking on a professional tennis player. Care to visit our neighboring islands? Our private mahogany motorboat, Shirley, has room for up to ten passengers. Her dedicated captain will take you to Murano for glass and Burano for lace. We’ll pack you a picnic and champagne for the sunset.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Belmond Hotel Cipriani makes your experience of this already exquisite city even more beautiful. From our commanding views of the shapely Venetian towers and domes across the turquoise lagoon to the roses, jasmine, and wisteria that softly scent our ancient courtyard, every step brings another postcard-perfect moment. Indeed, our luxurious spa is set in the lush gardens where Casanova once wooed his lovers. While the hotel’s fine-dining options include our Michelin-starred restaurant Oro, you can also choose to take it easy and grab a perfectly-prepared bite by our Olympic-size pool—the only outdoor pool in Venice. Either way, may we suggest a bellini at Bar Gabbiano? It was our founder Giuseppe Cipriani who created the drink, so it’s only right to sip it on the terrace, serenaded a grand piano.

EXPERIENCES
BELLINI ACADEMY – The Bellini was born in Venice in 1948. This iconic cocktail was created by Giuseppe Cipriani, the historical founder of our hotel, for an art exhibition dedicated to Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini. The inspiration came from the rosy shades used by the painter. Since then, Bellini has become incredibly popular all over the world. During the lesson, you’ll learn to prepare the perfect Bellini, under the expert eye of Head Barman Walter Bolzonella.
EDIPO RE – Sail to the remote islands of the Venetian Lagoon aboard Edipo Re, the boat that once saw love blossom between Maria Callas and Pier Paolo Pasolini. Explore rarely-seen parts of the city before returning to the boat for lunch or dinner, cocktails, and canapés, or a tasting of exquisite local produce such as cult caparossoli clams.
VENETIAN ROWING ACROSS THE LAGOON – The Venetian rowing technique has ancient origins, which root back to the 5th century. It is truly unique as it adapts to the specific needs of the lagoon environment, with very narrow canals. Dive into the Venetian traditions with a local rowing champion, Gloria Rogliani, who will enhance your performance as fast as a lesson of one hour and a half. This experience is ideal for families who love having fun outdoors.
