Sonop is a luxurious tented camp nestled at the Southern extremity of the Namibia desert, in the Hardap region (Namibia). Designed as a refined British colonial experience from the 1920s, this out-of-the-ordinary lodge offers a perfect retreat in a stunning panoramic desert landscape. Constructed on top of boulders, the ten spacious tents aim to offer a unique journey through time. Richly furnished with antiques made of fine materials, colorful carpets, and precious wood, they are an invitation to live the life of yesteryear’s wealthy explorers. ACCOMMODATION

ONE BEDROOM TENT – The eight 1-bedroom tents are built onto boulders overlooking the vast panorama of the Namib Desert. Inspired by the journey of 1920’s British explorers, the tents provide the genuine experience of a bygone era. They are spacious with 42 sqm interior and accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child between 6 and 12 years. The bedrooms feature a four-poster bed with a king-size mattress, a distinct living area where guests can relax in comfortable armchairs, a large desk, vintage chest of drawers to store all travelers’ belongings, as well as an en-suite bathroom.   

Offering also breathtaking views over the desert, the bathroom is built around a central bathtub and features a rain shower, double vanity, elegant amenities, dressing table, and a separate toilet. Whilst no TVs are provided in the tents, an open-air cinema experience is proposed every evening. Thanks to the roll-up canvas, guests can admire the vastness of the landscape at any moment of the day, whether from inside or through the exterior platform that faces the Namib desert.

TWO BEDROOM HUT – With their 75 sqm interior, the spacious 2-bedroom tents are an ideal place for a quiet retreat with family or friends, while observing the desert’s immensity. They can accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children between 6 and 12 years, with the two large bedrooms with each an en-suite bathroom that shares a cozy living area. The bedroom features a four-poster bed with a king-size mattress convertible into twin beds, a distinct living area with comfortable armchairs, a desk, a large walk-in dressing room, and a telescope to view the distant surroundings. 

Every detail is a reminder of the 20th-century era, when wealthy travelers were exploring Africa, documenting their memories of extraordinary journeys. The bathrooms offer a double sink, separate WC, and a large central bathtub with stunning views combined with a rain shower. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and offer several roll-up canvas openings with panoramic views. All around the tent, an exterior wood platform perfectly completes these tents of oval design.

DINING

At every moment of the day, Sonop promises a pleasant gastronomic journey full of amazement and sobriety, like the desert’s offering. From 7 am to 11 am, an energizing ‘à la carte’ breakfast is served in the main area, at the center of the camp. This same space turns into a quiet restaurant at noon, offering light dishes to share. Overlooking the desert, the pool bar offers drinks and small bites to nibble from 11 am until 5 pm. Every evening, at 8 pm precisely, guests are invited to a gala-style dinner. A large communal table in a prestigious setting reveals itself to the twenty guests in a room yet secretly kept. Silverware and candelabras set the mood for the elegant dinner, where butlers serve a delicious 5-course meal with black-tie and white gloves, such that the entire occasion becomes an unforgettable gastronomic experience in the middle of the desert. 

The evening can be extended in the Cocktail & Cigar Lounge, designed in the style of an authentic gentlemen’s club with a billiard table and parlor games taking center stage. A selection of cocktails and exclusive spirits, presented with utmost care on a slate, are served in a convivial atmosphere by our skilled barman.

SPA

At Sonop, our aim is to enhance the life and well-being of each and every one of our guests. From our spa to our rooms, all the spaces have been carefully designed to provide with complete serenity and ultimate comfort.  Our spa, compromising of two double treatment rooms, offers a wide variety of treatments designed to balance, restore, and relax your body. Experienced therapists create a natural, relaxing, and heartfelt spa encounter. All of our treatments use only the finest natural and organic ingredients to deliver outstanding and long-lasting results.

A tranquil and peaceful relaxation area is also available to all guests.  Alongside our spa, we offer a fully-equipped fitness room with free weights, benches and barbells, and a variety of cardio equipment. All gym-goers are treated to refreshing herbal beverages and fruits, as well as cold, scented towels. 

Majestic yet melting into the background, our heated outdoor infinity pool offers a superb view over the desert, from sunrise to midnight dip.  Wellness activities such as yoga and meditation are also available.
