Silky Oaks Lodge, Daintree River is located in a stunning riverside location adjoining one of the oldest living rainforests the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park, and is an ideal base from which to explore Far North Queensland. The advanced eco lodge comprises the renowned open sided Treehouse restaurant offering fine dining in scenic surrounds, contemporary accommodation encompassing both custom designed and furnished Billabong, River and Treehouses., and the highly lauded Healing Waters Spa.

The Lodge has elegantly furnished interiors and spacious open lounge areas, bar, reading rooms with reference library. All accommodation retreats have wall to ceiling windows leading to spacious balconies with lush garden, rainforest or river panoramas. There are extensive hiking trails leading from the Lodge into the Daintree National Park offering both adventure and education as well as diverse and beautiful locations to photograph or picnic. Canoeing, river snorkeling or paddling, goanna spotting, biking, guided walks or early morning yoga classes followed by a swim in the river are just some of the activities available at the Lodge. There are endless options to explore the diversity of the surrounding region. Take a dreamtime walk at Mossman Gorge, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef or experience traditional hunting techniques at nearby Cooya Beach. Journey to remote Cape Tribulation with Silky Oaks Safaris visiting ancient refugial rainforests and habitats as well as venturing down the Daintree River marveling at the diverse flora and Birdlife.

ACCOMMODATION

Silky Oaks Lodge has 40 outlying retreats comprising of 2 Billabong Suites, 1 Lodge Suite, 11 Riverhouses, 24 Deluxe Treehouses and 2 Daintree Treehouses.

The Riverhouses and Billabong Suites are set overlooking the pristine waters of the Mossman River while still immersed in the tranquility of the surrounding rainforest. The Deluxe Treehouses are located in lush gardens and within sight of the adjoining Daintree National Park. The Lodge Suite is an enlarged Deluxe Treehouse with a contemporary luxury design. A very spacious balcony boasts views of the luscious rainforest and features its own outside king size four poster day bed and sitting area.

The suite comfortably accommodates up to two adults and two children and is the perfect place for families to enjoy time together surrounded by the natural environment of The Daintree Rainforest. All offer floor to ceiling windows leading to private balconies. Each room has custom made Silky Oak and rosewood cabinetry and furniture, Bose iPod dock and CD player, luxury linens, large bathrooms with double spa bath and separate shower.

FOOD & WINE

The far north region of Queensland has exceptionally clean air and water and the wide range of its landscape, soils and micro climates has enabled a great diversity of farming produce. The region produces most vegetable produce as well as a great variety of local tropical fruits as well as citrus, nuts, spices, organic beef, free range poultry and dairy products including gourmet cheeses, yoghurts and milk.

Aside from the main sugar cane industry there is a prominent industry of coffee, tea and chocolate producers finding the climate conditions perfect for these primary crops. Dining in the candlelit open-sided Treehouse restaurant listening to the soothing sounds of the river is a highlight of a stay at Silky Oaks Lodge. For more intimate dining the Jungle Perch can be reserved, or a location on the Riverbank by prior arrangement.

The Lodge is located in Far North Queensland, a diverse region of tablelands, lava caves, vast savannahs as well as the Great Barrier Reef and ancient Daintree rainforests. There are endless Lodge safari options which can be customized to include the many attractions of the area both near and far.

Unique to the Lodge is its riverside location, lagoon snorkelling, swimming, canoeing and private rainforest walks through pristine surrounds. Experience Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime stories at nearby Mossman Gorge; take a guided walk through coastal mangroves using traditional hunting methods, or journey by Helicopter from the Lodge helipad to remote coral cays. Take a River Snorkeling Drift excursion – a scenic rainforest tour down the Mossman River that is both exhilarating and informative.

Listen to Binna as he takes you on his journey exploring aboriginal art while taking a painting class in his private gallery. Walk through ancient Fan Palm Galleries in original refugial rainforests at Cooper Creek Wilderness with passionate senior Daintree Rainforest guides. Take 3 or 5 hour guided hikes both from the Lodge itself or further afield exploring mountain trails and waterfalls.

Sail aboard Luxury yachts exploring numerous coral cays and beaches with expert guides for both snorkel and diving or take a larger catamaran out to various outer reef pontoons. GETTING THERE

Silky Oaks Lodge, Daintree River is only 20 minutes from Port Douglas and 70 minutes north of Cairns Airport. Helicopter transfers are also available from Cairns Airport to the Silky Oaks helipad – 20 minutes Limousine / private car transfer directly to Silky Oaks Lodge, around 70 minutes Shuttles by a third party operator or in the Silky Oaks Lodge vehicle, around 1 ½ hours Directions for self-drive: From the airport take the airport access road to the Captain Cook Highway heading north. Remain on the highway until passing through Mossman. Follow Captain Cook Highway across the Foxton Bridge and then take a left turn onto Syndicate Road. Take the next left into Finlayvale Road. Silky Oaks Lodge is located at the end of road.
