La Réserve Ramatuelle | Ramatuelle | Var | France

Var

Property Description

Suspended between heaven and earth, in sync with an exceptional natural environment. A few minutes from the fabled village of Saint-Tropez, but far from crowds and noise, is a place preserved from the hustle and bustle. A vast private domain nestled in the Provencal garrigue, lulled by the song of cicadas, and with a spectacular view of the endless sea, La Réserve Ramatuelle overlooks one of the most beautiful bays on the French Riviera.

THE HOTEL

Perched between sky and sea, the intimist palace hotel features a new interior design paying tribute to the arty chic spirit pervading the Côte d’Azur of the 1950s. In the lobby, the patio, at the restaurant, the sleek lines, spectacular volumes, and white monochromes are enriched with authentic and raw materials, signed works of art, and unique custom-made pieces. The inspiration is drawn from the golden age of decorative arts in the 1950s and 60s when the artistic and literary avant-garde would congregate on the French Riviera.

In the South, white is the color of summer. It would be impossible to choose a more elegant backdrop. Ceramics, terracotta, rare species of light-colored wood, white enameled lava stone, sculptured lights with organic shapes, frescoes of plant motifs inspired by Cocteau, airy veils dancing in the breeze… From the lobby to the new patio bar, the decor provides multiple visual and tactile sensations enabling a better appreciation of the surrounding hand-worked materials, from the simplest to the most precious.

Conceptualized by Michel Reybier, this wholly new atmosphere reveals a previously undiscovered aspect of Jacques Garcia’s talent. Works of art rub shoulders with the pure lines of new light wood Scandinavian-style furniture. The creations by Julien Capron (grandson of the famous Vallauris ceramic artist, Roger Capron) seem to have been there forever: handmade jars, minimalist lighting, blue and green ceramic tile painting, magnificent echoes of nature. The beautiful double-sided fireplace in the completely refurbished restaurant has been entirely transformed. Jean Cocteau’s collection of original plates with their iconic poetic motifs has, of course, remained. The bar has moved to its summer quarters in the patio and is ready to get the party started in front of a majestic olive tree.

VILLAS

A far cry from the anonymous standards replicated worldwide, the villas at La Réserve Ramatuelle flaunt an architecture typical of this legendary peninsula that is a unique site around the Mediterranean. Each exudes a subtle, friendly, and warm authenticity. Soft terracotta tiles, immaculate white walls, crisp linen, and other natural fabrics that dance with light and shade, pure and contemporary furniture lending a modern touch. The atmosphere is filled with the welcoming atmosphere of a true southern family home. A place with a true soul that immediately makes one wish to settle in, kick back and unwind. Clinging to the hillside, nestled in large, fragrant private gardens, all the villas look out onto the infinite blue expanses of the Mediterranean. Each has its private heated swimming pool, some of them with a pool house: an azure blue oasis making a striking contrast with the subtle green shades of the umbrella-like stone pines and the silvery leaves of the olive trees. And of course, that supreme sense of peacefulness, barely troubled by a playful breeze, that gives one the impression of being in a unique bubble of serenity. The villas have three to seven spacious rooms ensuring individual comfort and privacy: en suite bathrooms for each room, a fully equipped dressing room. Whether as a family or among friends, this is a place designed for the sheer joy of being together.

Villa 1 – Perched above the sea, Villa 1 is nestled in a magnificent Mediterranean garden, where a venerable umbrella pine stands amidst lime trees, oleanders, eucalyptus, and other varieties typical of the South of France. The pool, located below, has a pool house with a summer kitchen. All on half levels and terraces, this original architecture on several floors endows the interior spaces with incredible charm, including a round section with exposed stone walls. At the very top and a little further away, a bedroom with a bathroom will make a perfect hideaway for a couple of friends, teenagers or the children’s nanny.

Villa 2 – Perched at the top of the estate in a unique setting overlooking the French Riviera affording a spectacular panorama of the Escalet cove, the large terraced garden enables the eye to roam across the magnificent blue shades of the sea at this unique spot along the coastline. Simply wandering down into this garden provides a chance to explore various viewpoints that are truly magical at any time of the day or night. A vision one can relish in full from the infinity-edge private swimming pool, tiled in a shade of blue specifically chosen to reflect that of the sea beyond.  Inside the house, wide bay windows ensure one can enjoy the show from inside, blurring the frontier between inside and outside. Accentuating the pervasive sense of continuity, the same white Tunisian stone adorns the outside terraces and the interior. This resolutely contemporary approach is also reflected in the pure, mineral-inspired decoration.

Villa 4 – Very close to the seaside, Villa 4 enjoys both a wonderful view of the Mediterranean and the soft sound of the waves on the rocks, which can sometimes be heard in the distance from the garden. The big infinity pool is directly accessible from the large, partly covered terrace, an ideal place to have lunch. Very well equipped for family life or vacations with friends, the interior spaces ensure privacy for all, notably with a room in a separate wing with separate access. The charming small shaded patio is a great place for a cozy aperitif.

Villa 5 – Located in the part of the estate closest to the shore, Villa 5 is entirely designed to take advantage of its exceptional environment, with the sea nearby and a large garden with the scent of Provence. To maximize outdoor living, what could be better than the spacious covered terrace with its outdoor fireplace along with its summer dining room and lounge area? The beautiful living rooms and four of the five bedrooms are on the ground floor, while the fifth is serenely located in the basement and accessible via a staircase. To ensure perfect peace and quiet, the master suite overlooking the pool and the Mediterranean has a separate entrance in an entirely separate wing on the other side of the covered terrace.

Villa 7 – In close proximity to the sea, Villa 7 offers a magnificent view of the infinite blue of the Mediterranean. Nestled between the greenness of the garden and the crystal-clear waters of the vast heated shell-shaped swimming pool, this four-bedroom villa is completely immersed in the heart of a truly Provencal natural environment. Entirely on one level, it offers beautiful interior volumes, organized around a large living room, which opens onto a charming, shaded patio on one side and a huge terrace on the other. The careful orientation of the different outside spaces ensures enjoyment of the best of each season at any time of the day.

Villa 9 – Located in an area of the estate closest to the sea, Villa 9 is built high on the hillside, giving it an incredible view over the Mediterranean. Slightly below the house, the swimming pool is reached by descending a few steps and has a furnished pool house offering an idyllic place to have lunch facing the sea under the shade sail. With its highly contemporary, atypical layout, this beautiful four-bedroom villa is divided into two spaces separated by a patio. Featuring an isolated master suite in a quiet area, it is ideal for family vacations or with teenagers.

Villa 10 – Close to the hotel, Villa 10 is accessible by a few steps. From the sofas on the covered terrace, one has the impression of having the nearby and omnipresent Mediterranean, all to oneself. The beautiful swimming pool and its pool house occupy a petanque – a drystone wall typical of Provence – below, also with a magnificent view of the sea. The villa is entirely on one level and offers magnificent volumes with a large central living room, a dining room, and a separate kitchen. At mealtimes, the quiet atmosphere of the open patio, which serves as a summer dining room, can be enjoyed. Opposite the master suite, one of the six bedrooms offers a separate access point near the entrance of the villa, extremely practical for accommodating a teenager or the children’s nanny.

Villa 11 – Perched at the top of the estate, Villa 11 overlooks the bay and enjoys a breathtaking view of the sea and the rocky contours of the coast. The vast living room appears to be one with the terrace, offering an impression of living inside and outside that further enlarges the space, and overlooking an unspoiled landscape. The swimming pool and its pool house are located in a petanque – a drystone wall typical of Provence – below the villa. The bedrooms, including three master suites, are divided between either side of the living rooms, lounge, kitchen, dining room, and patio. An ideal arrangement for sharing vacations with family or friends while ensuring everyone’s privacy.

Villa 12 – Located at the top of the estate, Villa 12 is the closest residence to the hotel. It overlooks the hill below, with the sea in the distance. The carefully positioned infinity swimming pool is south-facing and sheltered from view, making the most of the sunshine. Entirely on the same level, this villa has the benefit of a large living space directly connected to the outside: on one side a pleasant patio extends into a shaded summer dining room, on the other, the bay windows open completely onto the terrace with a sea view. One of the four bedrooms occupies a separate wing with its private terrace.

Villa 17 – Villa 17 has all the characteristics of a large Mediterranean family home and will accommodate large tribes and groups of friends comfortably. Its different spaces are organized around the central patio, great for enjoying a bit of cool in the middle of summer. Mostly opening onto the outside, the villa has six bedrooms including a master suite. All of them are on the same level, except for one bedroom located on the first floor, with its private tropezienne terrace (built into the roof) overlooking the bay. The view is just as magnificent from both the living rooms and the terrace, from where one can admire the unforgettable sunrises over the sea.

Villa 18 – At the very top of the estate and accessible by stairs, Villa 18 stands out first and foremost for its panoramic view, which is incredible on all sides – from the Mediterranean and the endless rocky coast, to the green hills and even the Alps that can be seen on the horizon. It is also the only villa from which the village of Ramatuelle can be admired. Finally, it has a very flat garden where children can play freely. Facing the hills, the swimming pool is sunny all day long. With two full master suites separated by the living room, the kitchen, and the dining room, this single-floor villa offers all the privacy and comfort imaginable for family life or vacations with friends.

Villa 19 – At the top of the estate and accessible by outside stairs, Villa 19 is a true summer house, designed for enjoying life outside to the full. The double exposure living room opens onto the outside and is prolonged by two terraces, one with a beautiful sea view. The interior layout in this single-story villa, favors excellent spatial flows, with a huge living room incorporating the kitchen, dining room, and lounge in a single space. The bedrooms with private bathrooms are distributed on both sides for perfect privacy.

DINING

Eric Canino plays with the authentic flavors of the South, a land endowed with an inherently generous nature. A virtuoso of nutritional equilibrium, he reinvents a classic Provençal repertoire by drawing on high-quality products of irreproachable freshness selected in accordance with the highest standards. His divinely light recipes have the elegance required both to tickle the taste buds while eliminating any tinge of guilt.  Whether at noon or in the evening, an array of succulent dishes interprets the colors of Provence in a delightfully Epicurean Mediterranean cuisine – exactly the kind of culinary delights one would love to enjoy on a daily basis.

Restaurant La Voile – Floating between the deep blue sea and the azure of the sky, ‘La Voile’ (the sail) hoists the colors of gastronomy that is devoid of anything superfluous and which focuses on the pleasure of true flavors. True to his style, Eric Canino, a double-starred Chef, remains at the helm of a restaurant reputed for its culinary creativity and offers cuisine as light as a gentle breeze under the immaculate white sail shades on the terrace, overlooking the Mediterranean.

Pool Restaurant – A relaxed but glamorous dolce vita atmosphere at the pool restaurant. When the sun becomes too hot to bear, it’s time to settle down in the shade of the pine trees and the big white sails to savor a range of fresh ideas from Michelin two-starred chef Eric Canino.  When it’s time for drinks, why not start with a glass of Château La Mascaronne organic wine, ranked among the best French rosé wines* and owned by Michel Reybier, founder of La Réserve? Very much inspired by the Mediterranean, the lunch menu brings together a range of best-loved summer dishes: colorful salads, raw fish specialties, pasta, Salmon avocado tartar in tempura, delicious Vitello Tonnato, and Provençal-style Calamaretti are among the great favorites, to be enjoyed with homemade bread and olive oil from the estate.  Foodies will then be faced with the tough job of taking their pick between lemon espuma, lemon leaf sorbet yuzu, apricot roasted with honey, and almond nougatine sorbet, and the destructured millefeuille with Madagascar vanilla. Truly a case of layer upon layer of culinary delights!

The Japanese – What could be more natural when facing the sea than to highlight a cuisine demonstrating perfect mastery of the various flavors, textures, and colors relating to fish and shellfish? La Réserve Ramatuelle offers you a Japanese menu on our rooftop prepared by two master sushi chefs, to be savored while admiring the infinity of the Mediterranean. A menu that perfectly complements that of our two Michelin-starred restaurants La Voile where Eric Canino showcases Mediterranean flavors with a blend of talent and enthusiasm.
