Where to go first is a decision you can make together around the large table in the huge dining room on the ground floor of this handsome farmhouse, or in the comfort of the equally spacious sitting room on the floor above. You’ll find two bedrooms tucked away behind each of these convivial spaces, while four of you will be billeted to lodgings at the rear of the building, via a separate entrance.

Your deliberations could continue outside – there’s a first-floor terrace and two gazebos in the garden, plus, down a flight of steps, another covered area next to the large pool. Still need more room for thought? Take a walk in the dappled light of the oak woods that swaddle this property, it’s your very own private forest.

The farmhouse, dressed in traditional peach stucco and green wooden shutters, is as attractive as it is generous with its space. A tasteful eye has overseen the careful preservation of original features throughout – terracotta floors and ceilings, wooden beams, large hearths – then applied fresh modern styling. Ceilings and walls are brushed creamy white, against which colourful fabrics provide jewel-like accents, and many of the wood and iron furnishings have been specially commissioned from local artisans.

The interior design is the work of the welcoming owner, who lives just across the driveway. Her exquisite taste could be all you require of her for your holiday, but she can also provide dinners and cooking classes in a private dining room at her home.
