SUJÁN Story began in Ranthambhore many years ago – Pitched under a canopy of indigenous trees, all planted by our family over the last three decades as part of our rewilding initiative, SUJÁN Sher Bagh pays tribute to our core values of giving back to nature by remaining small and intimate, encompassing the surrounding wilderness.

What sets a stay here apart is the deep-rooted family connection to the area. The SUJÁN Family has a legacy of working with wildlife through filming, monitoring, researching, and creating awareness about tigers in Ranthambhore for generations. In 1974, the family first put roots down in Ranthambhore, and during the 1980s they re-wilded a swathe of the western edge of the park which was otherwise barren and degraded without a single tree into a healthy forest that now supports an incredible bio-diversity today.
 
Jaisal’s ( SUJÁN’S owner and founder) family put Ranthambhore on the map through their pioneering filming of tigers in the wild and in 1988, co-established The Ranthambhore Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), working closely with the development of villages around the park boundaries.  As a child, Jaisal had the privilege of spending his growing up years in the Ranthambhore forest, seeing his first tiger at just 12 weeks old,  long before any tourism had arrived, learning the ways of the jungle and being taught animal tracking and bushcraft skills as a toddler under the tutelage of his father Tejbir, the late Fateh Singh Rathore and his Uncle Valmik Thapar – regarded as India’s leading wildlife experts and conservationists.  Ranthambhore felt like Jaisal’s very own home in the wilderness as he learned everything he could about the forest by walking through every inch of the park; forbidden under today’s regulations.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

SUJÁN has a tradition of growing, sourcing, and offering fresh farmed products ethically sourced from local producers. While we grow much of our own produce in our own gardens, or source them from regions and areas renowned for a particular seed or ingredient, our farmers take great pride in partnering with us to supply only the best and freshest produce of their region.

DINING AT THE PALACE:

The Colonnade  – The Colonnade is the perfect place to meet for a coffee, enjoy a light lunch or catch up with friends over an informal dinner or cocktails. It remains open twenty-four hours for our resident guests. The tall glass doors offer dreamy views of the palace lawns and gardens.

The Polo Bar Rajmahal’s  – Polo Bar is a genuine article when it comes to the Jaipur royal family’s famous trophies and triumphs on the Polo field. Along with a delicious menu to choose from, the bar showcases many of these accolades and celebrates the historic talents of Jaipur’s Polo prowess.

51 Shades of Pink  – The inspiration of this dining room was drawn from an Iconic Vogue cover photographed by Norman Parkinson in 1952. The shades of pink have been inspired by the Sharbata courtyard inside the City Palace, Jaipur. This dining room receives stunning natural light in the mornings and is the perfect spot for breakfast and luncheon.

The Orient-Occident  – This is one of the more formal dining spaces within the palace and is a particular favorite of H.H. the Queen Mother, Rajmata Padmini Devi of Jaipur.

The Gardens  – The palace lawns and gardens provide exquisite spaces for dining, teas or just a spoiling afternoon spent reading a book with a glass of wine. Few properties in India have such sprawling and luxuriant spaces available for their guests.

The Rajmahal Caffé  – The café offers an alfresco style dining experience. Dawning the 5 colors of Jaipur’s royal flag, Caffé Panchranga specializes in Italian inspired comfort food and the wood-fired pizzas are probably the best in Jaipur. Particular dietary preferences are arranged for if the palace is notified of these in advance.

SPA

The SUJÁN Spa at Rajmahal Palace is located in one of the oldest sections of the palace and is a self-contained, private space with a diverse menu of therapies and treatments to choose from. SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace hosts spacious apartments, suites, and rooms, all of which have undergone an extensive refurbishment. The prodigious designer, Adil Ahmad has meticulously created unique wallpapers and fabrics to match the character of SPECIAL EVENTS Available exclusively for a private ‘book–out’ for weddings, parties, long or short stays, every whim, and luxury can be catered for here, and no request is too small or too unusual.
