Castello di Casalborgone dates from 999 and has an incredible history of noble families, of wars, of parties, of extreme beauty and life through time. Many different people and influences have been part of the castle in different eras. However, for the past 20 years, the castle has been uninhabited and neglected, left to its own rest. After the last year of renovation fine care and attention paid to details, the castle has awoken to thrive again in splendor and elegance.
The castle is nestled in the Piemonte Region in Northern Italy and is an easy 30 minute drive from Turin, or 1 hour and 30 minutes from Milan.
This region has recently been adopted as part of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) that aims to “combine the natural and social sciences, economics and education to improve human livelihoods and the equitable sharing of benefits, and to safeguard natural and managed ecosystems, thus promoting innovative approaches to economic development that are socially and culturally appropriate, and environmentally sustainable.
THE BISHOP’S ROOM – This is the room for the guest searching for monastic peace and serenity. One of the standout features of this room is a pair of intricately carved stone architectural elements dating as far back as the medieval period. It also offers idyllic views of the rolling hills surrounding, and an antique bed so soft it can only be described as divine. The bathroom is fully lined with travertine and offers a tub and separate shower. One of the remarkable features of this room is its location, conveniently located on the first floor but tucked just away from the other rooms gives it a greater sense of privacy.
BROGLIA SUITE – This is our largest and most decadent of rooms. You’ll never forget the expansive vaulted ceilings restored to retain their original painting. The room features a luxuriously soft king-sized four poster bed and a generous seating area in front of the marble fireplace.The bathroom features his and hers basins, is fully lined in marble and delivers a wonderfully large soaking tub. There is a large separate walk in shower. The unique vantage of our best suite offers views across the town of Casalborgone, to the sister castle of San Sebastiano Da Po and to the Alps beyond. This room is quietly positioned off a private living room shared by the Emilia room opposite. These two rooms can be booked together for families that wish to have their own sanctuary while staying with us.
CHI CHI ROOM – This jewel box of a room is painted top to bottom in delicate shades of pink and gold. The delicate crystal chandelier catches the afternoon light in such a way that the room fills with rainbows and makes any guest feel like Marie Antoinette. This room has a walk-in closet, a fireplace to be lit at your command, and small sitting area for taking afternoon tea with guests. The bathroom is clad in the most alluring shade of pink marble.
DUKE’S ROOM – Named for one of the people responsible for bringing this castle back to life, this room has a large vaulted ceiling and decorated in the belle epoch style. It overlooks the castle front gardens and the our pair of two hundred year old Lebanon Cyprus. It has a marble fireplace to sit beside and read and an opulent four poster bed. The marble-lined bathroom is complete with bathtub and over tub shower.
EMILIA SUITE – This opulent room is grand in proportions. You will sleep in one of our signature antique cloud like beds beneath a magnificent bronze and crystal chandelier in a room decorated in dramatic red and gold. The room features a collection of antique oil paintings including the ceiling which is painted with an original scene of Castello di Caalborgone. The travertine-lined bathroom offers a walk in shower and a wonderful four claw soaking tub that allows a view out to the magnificent Lebanon Cyprus and the town clock tower.This room is quietly positioned off a private living room with the Broglia room opposite. These two rooms can be booked together for families that wish to have their own sanctuary while staying with us.
GLASS ROOM – Quietly located on the second floor adjacent the library, this suite offers a perfect escape in a beautiful room furnished with a nod to Asia. It features a luxuriously soft king sized four poster bed, marble fireplace and its namesake, an antique reverse-painted glass ceiling. This decadently spacious room offers sweeping views down to the palm garden, the churches of Casalborgone’s historic centre and the mountains beyond. The generous bathroom features his and hers basins, is fully lined in travertine marble and delivers a wonderful four claw soaking tub. GREEN ROOM – Richly decorated in soothing shades of green, accented with gold and flashes of pink this room delivers in scale and elegance. Rich dark timber and clusters of gilt framed mirrors and paintings finish this room to optimum comfort and luxury. All our beds are king sized and unbelievably soft, but each is a unique piece of antique furniture selected for its room. This won delivers with expert carvings of cherubs at play. The separate seating area is ample for taking a moment to enjoy the views of the town below or to celebrate a moment with friends. The bathroom complements the rest of the room with its delightful green marble and offers a soaking tub and shower.
SPANISH ROOM – Located on the second floor, our most intimate room centres around its fabulous king-sized bed with magnificently carved and gilded headboard. A wonderfully intimate sanctuary, this room is for those that enjoy having their space. It enjoys postcard views across the town of Casalborgone. The generous bathroom includes a marble lined bath and separate shower.
VENETIAN ROOM – This room sprawls with a large and comfortable seating area next to another large space for dressing and sleeping. The charming exposed beam ceiling hosts a fabulous crystal chandelier over a fabulous four-poster bed. The picturesque views from this room allow our guests an unrestricted vantage of the town of Casalborgone, the sister castle of San Sebastiano Da Po and to the Alps beyond. The marble lined bathroom features a decadent soaking tub, and separate shower.

THE LIBRARY
Relax and explore the historic library of the castle and its 7,200 books (some from as far back as 1622!). The library has been beautifully restored as part of the renovation of the castle.
