Ngorongoro Crater – Tanzania
The area is year-round home to lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and African leopards, along with rhinos, hippos, hyenas, wildebeest and African buffalo. A supply of water all year means there’s no need to migrate, enabling individuals to see traditional African wildlife any time they choose to visit.
Kaziranga National Park – India
Book a visit between Dec. and March during the dry season to avoid monsoons and river flooding. The park is home to Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, Asiatic black bears, sloth bears and rhinos. Water buffalo, the Gray Langur, Sambar deer, elephants and river dolphins also live there.
Amazon Basin – Brazil
A truly wild place left on the planet, the volume of wildlife in the Amazon rainforest presents plenty of opportunities. Visit during the area’s low water season of July to Dec. Animals to see includes squirrel monkeys, Howler monkeys, green anaconda, capybaras, brown-throated sloths and caiman. There are also jaguars, maned wolves, tapirs and toucans.
Lone Pine Sanctuary – Australia
An intriguing range of animals can be found at the sanctuary. The best time to visit is during Australia’s cooler autumn months from March to May. Individuals can see kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, echidnas and emus. Tasmanian devils, cassowary, platypus, koalas and cockatoos are also visible.
Atsinanana Rainforest – Madagascar
Most people prefer to visit from May to Oct. during its dry season. Individuals will be able to view 6 different types of lemurs, 2 types of chameleons, tenrecs, and fossa that are relatives of the mongoose.
